Embark on an intensive 2-day wilderness game tracking expedition from Diani Beach into Tsavo East National Park. Encounter the iconic red-dusted elephant herds, Galana River hippos, Lugard Falls, and resident lions.
Depart your Diani Beach resort early at 05:30 AM in your private custom 4x4 Land Cruiser with pop-up roof. Drive along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway toward Tsavo East Bachuma Gate, arriving around 09:30 AM.
Begin your first game tracking drive immediately upon entering the park. Search for giant herds of red soil elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and buffaloes around Aruba Dam. Check into Ashnil Aruba Lodge or Voi Wildlife Lodge for hot lunch and rest during the midday heat.
At 04:00 PM, embark on a late afternoon game drive when predators become active. Enjoy sunset across the red plains before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Wake up for an early 06:15 AM sunrise game drive, the best time to spot big cats on the hunt and abundant birdlife along the Galana River. Return to the lodge at 08:30 AM for a full buffet breakfast.
Check out with a mid-morning game drive en route toward Bachuma Gate, visiting Lugard Falls rapids where hippos and crocodiles gather along the water channels.
Exit the park and enjoy lunch at an exterior safari restaurant before driving back to Diani Beach, arriving at your hotel in time for late afternoon relaxation by the ocean.
Tsavo East Bachuma Gate is approximately 140 km from Diani Beach. The drive takes about 3.5 to 4 hours including the Likoni ferry crossing, which is why we depart early at 05:30 AM to maximize game drive time.
Pack lightweight neutral clothing (khaki/beige), a warm jacket for early morning drives, comfortable closed shoes, sunglasses, a sunhat, insect repellent, sunscreen, binoculars, and your camera gear with extra batteries.
